A few of the benefits you receive as a member of the SCAOR are:
  • Education: Educational opportunities for Department of Real Estate (DRE) License renewal as well as timely informational topics concerning the industry and the many local issues affecting personal property rights.

  • Legal: Question and Answer Memoranda prepared by the California Association of REALTORS¨ (CAR) Legal Department prepared on a variety of topics of interest to the member and their clients.

  • Library: Extensive collection of periodicals, magazines and resource materials as well as video tapes and audio cassettes covering a variety of real estate topics, presented by a number of popular speakers - available for checkout.

  • Member Service Center: Most commonly needed California Association of REALTORS¨ Standard Forms, publications and products, including signs, are available for purchase.

  • Dispute Resolution: Ethics -- As REALTORS¨ must abide by the National Association of REALTORS¨ (NAR) Code of Ethics, the ethics process is in place to handle complaints alleging acts of unethical conduct. Mediation -- To assist parties in reaching a settlement of a dispute in an informal manner as an alternative to arbitration. Arbitration -- This process is available if mediation is not selected or successful to resolve a monetary dispute.

  • MLS & Information Services: Open house tour sheets and Santa Cruz County MLS monthly statistics are available on-line and delivered via facsimile to offices located throughout the Association's boundary areas. Additionally, a newsletter, published monthly by the Association, is a wealth of real estate related information including local legislative issues of importance to the industry.

  • Community Involvement: Each year the Association's Annual Golf Tournament, with an outstanding commitment by the Association's Affiliate Committee, is a charitable event to support a local nonprofit organization with tremendous success.

  • Governmental Involvement: The Association has a very strong Local Governmental Relations Committee which keeps abreast of the local issues by attending governmental meetings throughout the County. The "Real Estate Watch" is prepared and distributed to all members with articles concerning actions taken and changes in the community involving real property rights.
